Fil-Ams file 0.5 billion-dollar suit versus ABC

Fil-Ams file 0.5 billion-dollar suit versus ABC (ABS-CBN News)

A group of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans is preparing a 500 million-dollar class suit against ABC Network in the United States in response to a slur against Philippine medical schools and Filipino medical professionals, aired in the premiere episode of the fourth season of “Desperate Housewives”.

Affected ba? Must be retired Filipino medical practitioners who have nothing better to do with their time. Clearly they were Desperate Housewives fans — and just who watches Desperate Housewives? Quite an older demographic on Sunday nights.

Ay naku. And now Filipinos will get a new reputation of over-reacting. Overrrr!

Pacquiao confirms new show on GMA Network

Pacquiao confirms new show on GMA Network (GMA News)

From boxing to acting.

That would be Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao?s new regime in the coming months as the Filipino boxing hero confirmed Thursday he had signed a contract to star in a GMA Network?s show.

“Abangan niyo po yung darating na show ko this coming November sa GMA,” said Pacquiao on the network?s talk show program Sis.

However, Pacquiao said the name and type of his show are still under wraps.

Hahaha. I give up. A television show probably won’t get in the way of boxing as much as being a public official. Sana comedy parang Tropang Turumpo. Or better yet, The Bachelor. Hahaha. Too bad he’s married. That would have been an awesome concept. How far will women go to become Mrs. Pacman.

ABS-CBN tops Nielsen survey in 3 market segments

ABS-CBN tops Nielsen survey in 3 market segments (GMA News)

ABS-CBN emerged as the preferred channel among affluent Filipinos, teen-age audiences, and families of overseas Filipino workers.

This latest finding was according to the Nielsen Media Research, which conducted a survey aimed to give a clearer picture of the viewing habits of the three market segments cited.

The research and survey was administered through personal interviews around urban areas.

Nielsen described the word “affluent” as those viewers who are living in posh “gated villages” with income higher than P50,000 a month. The teens are those who belong to the 13 to 19 age bracket, regardless of economic status, while OFW beneficiaries are those with a family member working overseas.

This is pretty much in-line with conventional thinking. Again, good to have some data to back up our theories.

I still have to digest the result of the 13-19 age bracket and OFW families. It’s highly likely that shows like Super Inggo and Kokey really do appeal to a young audience, as well as the ABS-CBN loveteams like Kimerald.

Once upon a time, the C and D class, which is a majority of the population in Metro Manila, preferred ABS-CBN. This survey does not show the results of that. I am thinking they prefer GMA.

Zaido — Episode 01 — Aljur Abrenica, Marky Cielo, Dennis Trillo

Himala! Nag-post uli si Pinoy Rickey.

Blue! Red! Green!

Although I have to be honest, medyo na-put-off ako sa pag-ta-Taglish nila. Ay mali. Hindi ba, this is how we write in Pinoy Rickey? Hahaha. “Meron ba tayong visual?” “Ayaw gumana ng emergency power!” Etc. Oh well. I guess it was a conscious decision. Mahirap naman talaga mag-translate ng scientific terms na wala sa vocabulary ng Filipino since we’ve never been in space. (OMG, I’m a natural). The big drawback is during the space “futuristic scenes” while the characters speak Taglish, it brings the scenes back to “contemporary” times which loses the effect of something “unreachable” or different from the world we are living in.

But Aljur can do no wrong. Meron siyang billboard ‘no?
